TRADITIONAL ASTROLOGY

When a human being's life is first ignited, when he now has his own life, and can no longer remain
in the womb - then he receives a character and an imprint of all the celestial configurations
(or the images of the rays intersecting on earth), and retains them unto his grave.

(Johan Kepler, Tertius Interveniens, 1610)

HORARY CORRESPONDENCE COURSE

"Branka is one of my most gifted graduate students.
During my latest seminar in Belgrade I was astonished to see how swiftly and
accurately her pupils answered my most difficult questions.
This speaks eloquently of her ability to pass on this knowledge to others.
I heartily recommend her course."

- John Frawley -

Why Study Horary Astrology?

Once upon a time, when someone wanted to study astrology, horary was the first he/she was instructed in by an experienced teacher. It was considered a necessary first step, before one approaches the field of natal astrology. Today, when our craft has been changed almost beyond recognition, those few that get interested in horary consider its study an exotic excursion into the "traditional branch". However, it would be much closer to the truth to regard it as the study of the basics. It is my firm belief that solid horary knowledge dramatically improves ones skills in natal and mundane work.

Horary astrology is, also, the most practical tool astrologer has for his/her work with clients. Its aim is to give concrete answers to the acute questions that clients have on their mind at the time they contact astrologer.

Course Duration and Manner of Work

Your tutor is Branka Stamenkovic.

Each lesson consists of:

  1. Short written explanation of the main concepts
  2. Homework

Homework consists of two parts. During the first 8 lessons, you are invited to do a certain amount of required reading before attempting to answer some questions related to the subject at hand. In the second part of the course, when we will be focusing on practical work, your homework will consist of chart judgements. Expect approximately half a dozen of horary charts per lesson - some of them will be assigned, and some of them you will have to provide from your own practice.

Every homework of yours will be commented upon, and if additional work is needed, you will receive neccessary guidance.

There are no deadlines for homework submissions, but 2 years period is considered the absolute maximum time span in which you are expected to complete the whole course.

You are invited to ask questions and seek additional explanations regarding the course material at any time.

The course finishes with the exam. That is when you are expected to demonstrate the level of acquired horary skills by making certain number of horary predictions before the event.

Requirements

You are expected to have basic astrology knowledge, and know how to calculate a chart (by hand or using the computer).

Internet access is also a requisite, because this correspondence course is offered by email only.

Also, you will be expected to have a certain number of books that are considered required reading. They are as follows:

  1. The Horary Textbook - John Frawley. More details on how to order the book can be found at author's website: http://www.johnfrawley.com.

  2. Christian Astrology, Volume I - William Lilly. Although it is highly recomended to read this William Lilly's masterpiece in full (i.e. all three volumes), during the course, we will need only the first volume. You can buy all three volumes from one of the many traditional astrology books publishers, or simply download first two volumes for free from: http://mithras93.tripod.com.

  3. Fixed stars and constellations - Vivian Robson. As in the case of William Lilly's book, this one can also be acquired from various publishers of traditional astrology books. The alternative is that you lean towards one excellent internet source about fixed stars and constellations, which quotes Robson quite extensively - the superb website of Ann Wright. You can find it at http://www.winshop.com.au.

  4. The Real Astrology - John Frawley. More details on how to order the book can be found at author's website: http://www.johnfrawley.com.

  5. The Real Astrology Applied - John Frawley. More details on how to order the book can be found at author's website: http://www.johnfrawley.com.

  6. Regiomontanus Table of Houses. You will need this only if you hand-calculate your charts. If you use any astrology software, make sure it has the option of Regioumontanus house cusps.
